Eduardo Rivera lay on the lounge floor of the firehouse. Above him stood a dark haired gothic girl who was holding a highly explosive device. Roland and Garrett were too intent on what they were doing to notice. “ Kylie, I’m sorry. I admit I was wrong okay?” She continued to shake the can of Diet Coke as she considered his plea. “ Sorry Eduardo, your gonna have to beg before I show any signs of mercy.” He shot her a look of pain, she smirked, his hand encircled her ankle, pulling hard. She fell to the floor and the can rolled harmlessly away to be stopped by Winston’s foot.
“ Let go of me you bully!”
Back in the other room Garrett and Roland listened to their two colleagues argument. “If you dare hit me with that pillow you will start a serious war!”
The yells of rage caused Kylie and Eduardo to stop their fight and look into the kitchen. “Now,” Kylie said, “ We’re in trouble.” She looked up at his face and waited for a reply. “ I think I’ve just remembered an essay on that architecture I gotta do.”
Two hours later Kylie sat in front of the blank screen of her T.V. reading a paper that she’d picked up and absently stroking Pagan’s head as her eyes skimmed the text. One small article had caught her attention. In Horseshoe Bay, Vancouver Island, a number of strange deaths had occurred. The only thing they had in common was that they all said they saw a ghostly woman riding a horse before they passed away. The Ghostbusters had been short of cases recently and it might be worth checking out. Leaning over and picking up the phone she dialled the firehouse.“ Hello, Ghostbusters.”
“ Have you seen today’s paper?”
“ Yeah. We yelled at him fist, so you owe him one.”
“ Do you reckon it’s worth looking at?”
“ Vancouver Island, Isn’t that where they filmed the x-files?”
She was prepared for their arrival. Well, this women would not be caught. Lifting her white gown from the lapping tide she patted the horses neck. “Come Freedom. This Goddess of the Sea will soon return to her home, will break the curse. With a little help. Enchantment. Three will believe almost anything. Only the girl will be a problem. But, maybe this fantasy isle will enslave her imagination, just as it has everyone else’s.” She mounted the
horse and began to ride.
“ Look who’s talking.”
Winston picked up the can and walked towards the kitchen shaking his head as he went. “Are the children playing nicely?”
Janine asked him, her voice loud enough to reach the teenagers ears. He put the can on the table and replied with equal volume. “ As well as can be
expected, you have to make allowances for the fact their mental age is only four and three quarters.”
“ You know I can’t resist dares chica.” He clouted her one with the feather cushion. “Right, you asked for it!” The other two beat a hasty retreat as insults and pillows began to fly.
“ They are SSOOO immature!” Garrett said to Egon as they entered the kitchen. Peter and Ray entered from outside. As Ray dropped the paper onto the table Peter picked up the can of Diet Coke and, before anyone could warn him, opened it.
“ Yeah, I, have to umm, feed Pagan.” Before Janine or anyone else could stop them they were out of the door and down the street.
“ Kylie, when will you learn to say hello?”
“ Hello, have you seen today’s papers?”
“ No, the only copy we had got drenched with Diet Coke, I wonder how that happened.”
“ All right Janine, I’m sorry. I’ll come over and show you this.... Is Eduardo there?”
“ Janine, I owe him millions. I just keep quiet and hope he won’t notice.”
“ Bye, Kylie.” The click sounded in her ear and she sighed. “ Looks like it’s time to face the music Pagan.” The cats amber eyes followed her across the room as she headed out of the door.

“I don’t know.” Roland looked up from the article. “ How do we get there?”
“ Drive or fly...” Ego interrupted. “ We have enough funds for four tickets, and we have no current cases, I think we should be able to cope without you.”
“Just us?!”
“ The rest of us will keep things running here.” Janine looked at the four teenagers. “ I’ll organise everything. I’ll put you in a hotel, any extras you pay for. Come get the air tickets tomorrow.”
“ ‘Kay Janine. As long as the immature ones don’t squabble we’ll be fine.”
Behind Garrett’s back Kylie stuck out her tongue, then realised how childish
it must seem and pulled it in just before Garrett looked over
his shoulder.
